Can’t have science in the science lab? No worries! 8B rocks out a flow rate/viscosity lab in their room. You need to have quick reflexes to time some of these 🤳 @IronRidgeJr
@AdrianaLaGrange Here’s some actual research done on the best education systems in the world. From Professional Capital by Hargreaves and Fullan. Not just an op ed piece that agrees with what you want.
@Alberta_UCP@AdrianaLaGrange Did you look to the countries with the best education systems in the world? Because they believe every child should be given the same great education with equally funded schools. This is from “Professional Capital” by Hargreaves and Fullan.
@Google could you add a student version of the “grades” tab to google classroom for students to quickly see what they’re missing? I’m finding many don’t know what’s not handed in because there’s no easy summary page for them. The teachers “grades” tab is a nice little summary!
Rube Goldberg machines from home in grade 8. Rules were to use what you have, and they’re turning out awesome! This is the walk through explaining the steps and simple machines. Follow up tweet is of it in action. @IronRidgeJr@WCPS72
Our @IronRidgeJr EA’s were so essential to online teaching. Teachers are picking up the extra google meets, but they won’t be able to be as long or as meaningful as our EA’s could do with our most vulnerable. Huge appreciation and love to EA’s in AB right now.
Alberta EA’s were laid off. Today was their last day. It’s going to be more difficult now as they were doing sessions all day with out most vulnerable or high-needs students. Going over their classwork, engaging those who need one-to-one, and ensuring mental health was a priority
Grade 9’s were invited to extract DNA with me! They can do it with materials at home. Loved hanging out with them and doing science 🧬 it was even one of their bdays and we all joined in singing them a super cringe online version of the song 😉 Online is hard...but today was good
@IXLLearning any way for you to implement a chat feature from teacher to student during online learning. I can see if a student is struggling and send them an email, but they’re not always checking email. A pop up chat to talk about questions would be a game changer!
@IXLLearning anyway to implement a chat function (that is private from one student to their teacher) so that I can chat with kids while distance learning? I can see that a kid is struggling and I can send them an email, but lots may not have their emails open. Would be so helpful
