What's also true is that anti-racist work, learning about racism, understanding how racism has shaped this country (or however you decide to frame it) is never done. No matter how many books you read. It's not some threshold you cross and then you're done. It's ongoing. Always.
@MrsBarnett_Tchr Mrs. Barnett has been super supportive so shout out to her! She was my mentor teacher and really helped me get through those first few years. Also, supporting me through this twitter experience! So, shout out Mrs. Barnett! #BetterTogetherCA
@MrsBarnett_Tchr I listen to my students. It is so important that they feel like they are listened to it. I have had conversations with students about difficulties they have been going through and I think it is important to say "I am here." #BetterTogetherCA
@MrsBarnett_Tchr A: Many of our students have experienced trauma at a very young age. As an adult it is so difficult to deal with trauma. I am always in awe of the resilience of some of our students who carry this "mental clutter." #BetterTogetherCA
@CATeacherSummit I know there have been times in my classroom when our class has been having a great time learning and I find it hard to enjoy those moments. Usually I am busy thinking about things like "are my students hitting the standard?" or "what we are doing next?" #BetterTogetherCA
@MrsBarnett_Tchr A1: . I think being happy in your classroom and while you are teaching is so important because when you are feeling good about what you are teaching then your students will be happy with what they are learning. I think happiness can be contagious. #BetterTogetherCA
