The 2’s of Rm. 108 have been learning about St. Patrick and how he might have used a “shamrock” to teach the people of Ireland about the Blessed Trinity. @HCMaltonDPCDSB

The 2’s were then sent on a mission to “code” instructions for Penguin B to actually make it to the sea. #dpmath @HCMaltonDPCDSB

Today the 2’s of Rm. 108 tackled last week’s problem of the week. 1st they predicted if both penguins would make it to the water, then talked it out with a partner, finally followed the coding instructions to see what would happen. #dpmath @HCMaltonDPCDSB

@HCMaltonDPCDSB Today the 2’s were given a handful of farm animal counters. They worked together in groups of 3 to sort what they were given. #dpmath Here is what they came up with.

This afternoon the 2’s of Rm. 108 took a look at some Rubber Ducky Number talks. Some good explanations as to how they knew what the number was. @HCMaltonDPCDSB #DPRubberDuckyDay #dpmath

This morning the 2’s of Rm. 108 took a look at the jar of ducks and guessed how many ducks were inside it…there were many guesses. We then talked about what guesses might be realistic and narrowed the guesses down. And voted! #DPRubberDuckyDay @DP_math

So @HCMaltonDPCDSB the results are in! About half the groups of 2’s figured out what number each picture symbol represented. But they all tried their best! There was a lot of trial and error to reach the end result as well. #dpmath

@DP_math @HCMaltonDPCDSB Yesterday the 2’s told me that 9 students took the bus to school and that only 2 students rode their bikes to school. We also had a talk about what “how many more” meant when looking at data in a graph. #dpmath

Today the 2’s of Rm. 108 started working on last week’s problem of the week! It took a while to remember that we get our “data” (info) from asking a survey question. Then we had a discussion about graphs. #dpmath Work is still in progress @HCMaltonDPCDSB !
