Yesterday, the De Pere fire department completed a controlled burn of our school’s native garden. Did you know that by burning the garden, like a prairie, it helps the plants grow? We learned about the benefits of burning the garden. #Rockonwestwood #wdppride

On Wednesday, we took our learning outside. We observed and compared the ecosystems at Lily Lake, Neshota Park (Kewaunee Pond/River), & the Beshandy Fish Hatchery. We LOVED the hands on learning!#Rockonwestwood #wdppride

Author Miranda Paul surprised us with a visit from Isatou Ceesay who is from Gambia, Africa! Isatou is the inspiration behind the book “One Plastic Bag”! The 5th grade commercial winner was also announced, and Miranda made a donation in honor of authors for Earth Day.

It’s been a busy week or so! We had a presentation from the Fox-Wolf Watershed Alliance, and we learned how to keep our watershed clean from pollution. We are also hard at work creating commercials for SYFA for our Miranda Paul author visit in April!
