PSA: I’ve tripped, slipped, and about threw a fit 🤦🏽♀️ we placed command strips on the front of their desk to hold their book bags. This is a way to get them out of the way and make sure you don’t slip, trip, or throw a fit.
Every time I walk into my classroom, I dream up new ideas. So I go straight to Pinterest, trying to find new ideas and things to build off of. I stay up all night looking and reading. Then I remember, that school won’t be ‘normal’. Hate it so much #whatisnormal
While having a Google Meet with my kiddos today, one of them speaks up and says “Mrs. Spurlin, I took your advice. I read to my Teddy Bear like you said and he loved it!” Trying to bring the joy of reading back - I’ll count this as a small success #bringthejoy
I miss my students 😩 yesterday, during our regular facetime call- this sweet blessing asked me if I wanted to slide with her. From a distance, she takes me for more than one adventure down the slide. I believe I enjoyed it more than she did. ❤️#bringthejoy#lovewhatyoudo
Through COVID-19, I have been able to self reflect & learn so many things. But one thing I have realized recently is, no matter how much I do while remote learning, I don’t feel like Mrs. Spurlin, I feel like Tiffany. I miss being in the classroom so much. Am I the only one?
Let me tell y’all something- I have the BEST lil spuds. They have been working so hard, & I'm so proud of them. I wanted to do a little something for them to show my appreciation.
Thank you to @DairyQueen for their ’treats’. #bringthejoy
ps. I'm a snail mail kind of girl💌
As I read her book, I realized a lot of times students just pick books. They don’t pick THEIR book. This is a great take away that I want to apply to my classroom. #SCSEd#SCSReads
Aimee Buckner- author of Notebook Connections- talks about how visualization is the joy of reading. What are they seeing as they read and how can we expand on this. Loving this book on readers notebooks. I have so many ideas for the up coming year 😄 #SCSEd#SCSReads
“I never chose to read when I could do something else”-Aimee Buckner. This really stuck out to me because this was me as a kid. Why read when you could watch it. The more I reflect back and the more books I read about teaching, I realize how important it is to find YOUR book.
Aimee Buckner states that writing is more complex and what we realize. In doing readers notebooks it gives them an opportunity to create and have purpose. #SCSEd#SCSReads
While talking to a parent today she says,
Parent: “hey, your coon dog pups like to come out early don’t they?”
Me: “uh yeah, they like to roam the ‘gaps”
Parent: “well they are standing in the front yard”
Me: “oh my lanta, I’m so sorry 🤦🏽♀️”
When in Lowgap....

Wanted to jump on the bitmoji wagon 😬 wish I had thought of this sooner. Can’t wait to add this is my morning check in and my calming corner! #bringthejoy#itsthelittlethings#throwafit
Hi 👋🏼 My name is Tiffany Spurlin and I am addicted to Epic Academy. I can’t control myself, the more quest I can do, the more addicted I become. Yesterday alone, I worked from 4:30-9:00 on just Epic. I have a problem #bringthejoy#EPICAcademy
*one school, one book* Lil spuds have taken a new interest in Charlie and the Chocolate factory. I love to watch the engagement, but I also love to watch them listen as I read. Whatever style works better for them, this is how we read aloud #bringthejoy
A little math scootin’ boogie this week. Some played review games on prodigy while others went around & played our scoot game. We did a little flip flop with our teams. They were so excited to scoot around the room but also have review. This might be my new favorite way to scoot
