Some excellent animal adaptation today by 1F!
Praise cards & prizes galore today!
@AllSaintsSec - these animals live in those 4 layers Mr McD learned about last week!
One of my favourite purchases in my classroom overhaul.
Textured breathing & emotional regulation stickers.
Pupils who are feeling overwhelmed use their finger to trace around the instructions & hopefully self regulate ♥️
Every desk in 108 now has one of these.
@AllSaintsSec
Striving to make 108 an inclusive classroom!
Textured breathing guides to help emotional regulation. Resistance bands for vestibular input. Fidget toys for sensory regulation. Coloured finger guides for dyslexic learners. Disposable earplugs too.
Excited to see the impact!
The return of skills roulette!
N5 skills papers, printed at random, sealed in an envelope.
Pupils pick at random & beat the clock to complete their question.
Always a favourite lesson of mine 😂

Allll the way back in 2009, I sat my 5th year exams & absolutely bombed them.
Scrapped a pass in English, failed maths, failed biology, managed a pass in Drama.
All my friends celebrate their As & I was gutted.
6th year, I tried again to a similarly disappointing return!
My point with this story is 2009 was a long time ago. Ive forgotten what I achieved in some of my subjects, I've forgotten my lecturers names or what my essays were about because they are small parts of the journey. You can still reach your destination even with a few detours!
3 years, 3 school, supply teaching & a lot of uncertainty but I grew as a teacher, honed my craft and ended up covering a timetable gap at my current school with the expectation id be there for one year only. Instead it became my permanent school & this is my 4th year there
Things are on the up! Right? Wrong. My department had just had probationer of the year and I was an exhausted mother of a one year old! Im making strides finally and then COVID. Probation ends early, no recruitment for art or social subjects in my council...
I applied again two years later and got in - excellent. I fell pregnant in placement one - not so excellent 😂 I battled ro finish the year & gave birth 9 weeks early while homeless after being allocated my 5th choice council for probation. I deferred, waited a year & got GCC...
I worked 45 hours a week in a retail job while planning a wedding & slept walk through university, absolutely wasting the opportunity. Ended up with a 2:2 degree and no idea what I was going to do with it. I applied for mods teaching and was told to get my some life experience!
I didnt get enough qualifications to go to university & my friend group went off without me, leaving me to brave the general education course at my local college. My 3rd attempt went better - A* for Sociology & adv Higher English plus a C at mods (😂) and I finally got into uni!
