“I don’t like it when people say, ‘We need to prepare our students for the real world.’ The truth is that some of them are experiencing more of a “real world” than we will ever know. What we need to do is prepare them for a better world that they help create.” #iNACOL18
This morning I woke to find this message from a former student. I taught him when he was in 7th grade and he has since graduated and joined the Navy (so I think this makes him the most courageous). But, man, my heart needed this. This message means so much to me. 🤍
I never remember to use my teacher Twitter anymore, but I had to log back in to brag that on my Antioch DECA kids!! We just got back from state & had two of our teams win 1st place, with 1 group qualifying for ICDC! @WeAreAntiochHS
Yesterday, for our Freshman Academy’s Experiential Learning Day, we went and toured the State Capitol! I think you might be looking at some of our future State Representatives! @WeAreAntiochHS
Though I’ve only been teaching in MNPS for one year, I’m so grateful to be a part of a district that is focused on students’ needs — academically, socially, emotionally, & culturally! If your kids are a student in Metro Nashville Public Schools, trust that they are in good hands!
MNPS is doing great things, y’all! We were by FAR the largest group at our AVID training here in San Antonio! Dr. Battle, our Director of Schools, was there training with us and directing us on how we can achieve MNPS’s vision. (1/2)

Y’all. @TMobile is coming through with the teacher appreciation gifts this year!!! I definitely feel appreciated!!! I can’t wait to use my $50 spa gift card to treat myself once school lets out!! Thank you for appreciating us teachers & nurses! 👏🏼
This is my new favorite School Spirit Dress Up Day - Generation Day, where teachers dress as teens! So, today, I dressed as my students! 🤣 I swear I’d be more productive if I got to wear sweats & sneakers everyday!
Y’all! How old am I?! I just took my car to get an oil change & 2 boys that I taught in 7th grade just changed my oil! They even gave me a discount! So, I guess that softens the blow of feeling ancient!
