This isn't a little thing...stats that big can seem impossible to imagine, but the good that could be done here is enormous. And it won't cost you a penny.
I love these teacher advice threads that are like “oh, just give your kids sticky notes to [annotate, communicate, word wall, parking lot]. Where are you getting this endless supply of sticky notes, because I have to pay for those myself and they are pricey!! #teacher
YOU are extending the patent of bedaquiline in countries impoverished by racism and colonialism--like Sierra Leone. The bedaquiline patent SHOULD end 20 years after you filed it on July 18th, 2003. But you're extending it, denying people access to affordable lifesaving treatment.
Good morning @JNJNews. Today's gonna be a long day, admin, and I'm sorry about that, but we need your bosses to stop pursuing a secondary patent on bedaquiline and keeping six million people from being treated appropriately for multi-drug resistant tuberculosis. Video at noon.
In part because you are monopolizing the distribution of bedaquiline, a life-saving medication that most people who need don't get because you keep the price of the drug artificially high.
Because of your bad business and ethics decision, MDR-TB can spread further and faster.
An open letter to @JNJNews. Stop pursuing the secondary patent of bedaquiline. YOU KNOW that millions of people will be unable to access lifesaving treatment for multidrug-resistant tuberculosis if you extend the patent. YOU KNOW it violates your credo. https://t.co/JArPHWpmv5
@JNJNews You claim to be in the health care business and taking care of people. Please work to *not* renew the patent on bedaquiline so that people around the world can afford life-saving treatment for tuberculosis. #stopthepatent#bedaquiline#boycottJandJ#tuberculosis#health
@MarcusLuther6 As someone with a physical disability, it’s hard to get up, but often my colleagues are kind and help me accommodate for these “stand up and wander” lessons. I love seeing them modeled in trainings.
@alicekeeler I will always round up, and yea, I will do it for every grade that is less than 1% away from a higher GPA. They put in the work. That slightly higher GPA may encourage them.
@shekter11 @GraceBrinkman1 @triomonkey@JoJoFromJerz And all of those “tools” you’ve named have other purposes: a knife for cooking or cutting, a car for transportation, a bat for sports. A gun is meant only to kill or intimidate or cause fear.
Republicans in Florida want to stop girls from talking about their periods in school.
In Idaho, they’ve rejected a bill that would have funded free menstrual products in public school bathrooms.
And in Virginia, the Governor has made sure authorities could issue search warrants in order to seize a young girl or woman’s menstrual data.
All of this, while they seek to criminalize abortion & deny a woman’s access to contraception.
If this isn’t an all-out Handmaid’s Tale style assault on women and girls, I don’t know what is.
