@AskCapitalOne this is getting a bit ridiculous. I get that it’s a third party issue. I get that it’s out of your hands. But it is day 3 with a holiday on Monday and we need our paychecks.
Dear @dominos:
What the heck? I sent an email pleading with you to get a better gluten free crust because your current GF crust is a close to cardboard. This was your response.
It wasn’t a suggestion. It was a review. The GF crust needs and update. It’s bad.
Meet my grandegg Theo!
Theo just woke up and I was gonna make him breakfast. I thought kids liked scrambled eggs, but then I realized he is an egg and it would be like feeding him the slain bodies of his own kind. So, I put the eggs away and offered him some peanut butter instead
Most kids said they liked it because they were able to do some research on their own or learn more about a specific topic.
Best last minute switch up so far this year!
Yesterday, I changed up my plan last minute to give myself time and allow the students to learn on their own terms with a choice menu. All choices were realistic and engaging, but totally self guided. I gave them two reflection questions as an exit ticket. They loved it!
They were engaged with each other quietly to help one another or with their choice of learning. If someone was off task, a gentle nudge with proximity was enough. The room was chill, but not totally silent - LoFi music playing in the background.
I was on the receiving end of this last year. If you know of an educator that could use a hand up this holiday season, nominate them and donate to this project. I know I’ll be donating this year.
Is it just me or is teaching congruence and similarity about as exciting as asking kids to read a manual on fixing a refrigerator? I legitimately have no idea how to make this one exciting. #mathteacher#opinion
I’m making my Halloween costume right now.
SPOILER ALERT: I’m gonna be corn.
So I’m sitting at the table with 1,000 white and yellow pom poms and a bottle of fabric glue.
And my husband turns on @Korn because…and I quote…nothing is more metal than corn and Korn.
The kids were having such a good time. The energy was pure fun and childish joy.
Of all the things I’ve done at Mojave, this may be my greatest achievement. We took a topic of math, probability and statistics, and created an entire event dedicated to it, and people loved it.
This past Friday was the Probability Carnival hosted by the Reasoning and Sense-Making in Mathematics classes at Mojave High School.
300 students, parents, families, and community members showed up. It was an incredible event that was an amazing success.
Two kids were OBVIOUSLY vibing with each other in my class the other day.
Me: maybe you guys should hang out or like go see a movie or something. You’ve got similar vibes.
Kid 1: oh no. Just friends.
Kid 2: just friends, miss. But I do like someone in here.
As a reminder, this is one of the only fully project based math classes in the district. It is a senior level class where students use 11 years of mathematics learning to apply to real world situations.
The class:
Reasoning and Sense-Making in Mathematics
October 21, 2022 from 2:00-5:00 pm at Mojave High School. Project based learning in the math classroom will be on display with student developed probability based carnival games. Come out and play!
