SCOOP: TDSB to cut 15 specialized kindergarten classes for students with disabilities, after making the controversial decision last year to increase the size of the classes.
It is the latest in a wave of cuts tied to a projected drop in enrolment: https://t.co/VECZrLuWZV
Trustees/staff were blamed for the Ministry failure to adequately fund Spec Ed and other govt mandated programs. That’s is why the boards ran deficits.
The truth is, it’s always been an underfunding issue. Our children have been and remain the victims.
NEW: Most classroom teachers are unable to adequately support students with special education needs, according to a new AG report.
The report also raises concerns about rising EA absences, and students sent home when schools couldn't meet their needs. https://t.co/OxGhFeqxYX
Very confusing hearing the Education Minister suggest in an interview that trustees have had a hand in curriculum.
For clarity: no. The Ministry has full responsibility of the curriculum, and the current government has been in power since 2018.
So odd.

Doug Ford's Education Minister just gave himself more power to appoint Conservative insiders at $400K to $500K a pop while laying off a thousand education workers.
The word "liability" appears 43 times in his new legislation. "Students" appears five times. "Classrooms" appears zero times.
Kids are in overcrowded classrooms with no one to help them. Teachers are burning out. And this government keeps tinkering around the edges while consolidating power.
Students don't need a wannabe Emperor of Education. They need caring adults in classrooms who can answer when they put up their hand.
