October is when data meetings start to matter most. By now, we’ve taught, assessed, and gathered enough information to really see where our students are.
But data alone doesn’t change anything.
It’s not about numbers — it’s about needs.
And those needs won’t be met unless our instruction shifts as a result of what we see.
Let’s make sure our data conversations don’t stop at who’s behind.
Let’s talk about what we’re going to do — and do it.
They’re conversations about teaching, not just testing.
About action, not just analysis.
Because the data doesn’t move until we do.
It’s not critical. It’s reflective.
This is good teaching.

We spend too much time arguing like we're right—and too little time listening like we're wrong.
Diatribes don't change minds. Productive disagreement depends on showing respect, curiosity, and humility.
The most compelling teachers are the ones who are most eager to learn.
Overlook Flag Day 2025 was one to remember! Thank you to all that put your heart and soul into our kids everyday! We are a strong community because of all of you!
Students need love, patience, and grace, but they
also need routines, procedures, accountability and expectations. Care for them, but care enough to help them become their very best.
@plugusin I once asked my son’s middle school team of teachers and guidance counselors if their discussion about his was about compliance or learning. He took their quizzes and passed without doing the work or making all their classes. He had clearly learned. We should start a club!
The 2nd grade votes are in…”We are role models” is their class motto! They signed in, waited for an open booth, filled in their ballot and dropped it in the ballot box! #arlingtonspirit
Our fall highway cleanup along route 55 on 10/19 was a success! Thank you to Regina Godfrey (AHS) for leading the effort, retirees Jean Cwik and Debbie Pollack (and Debbie's husband), Marissa Drogan (AHS), Steven Ciancio (OPS), Eleni Anemelos (AHS), and AHS students who helped.
