We spent our Friday whole group time doing ALL the SEL activities today! So many smiles... power poses, emotional check ins, fitness wheel brain breaks, affirmations (with their fave at the end of each one - fireworks!), and self-management lessons.
They LOVED learning about Hunter's remote control and now we have been using the remote control language throughout our lessons - lots of channel changing, but loving the awareness of how our brains are working!
Conferring hack:
-Print one-pager anchor charts
-Staple them together in order they are introduced in the unit
-Use these when conferencing and write Ss names and dates by their goals
-This helps form small groups

@ewhitehouse09 is reinforcing something I learned last fall at the #TCRWP Coaching of Writing Institute. "You're the kind of __________ who . . ." and "You should be so proud of . . . " are such a powerful 💥 sentence starters for any compliment. #kellerliteracy@kisdlit
Thank you to my RRISD and DWE family for making me feel so celebrated, even under these circumstances. Between a porch visit & dinner from my amazing principal and a surprise yard sign that has people honking all the way at my home in Hutto, I’m feeling the love! 💕
@DWMusiciansRock Owen has been playing on the Chrome music lab all morning. Landon even got in on the fun earlier! This has been a great brain break between school subjects. Thanks for including it in your home learning slides this week! #DWEgreatestschool
It’s not quite like being in the classroom together, but seeing that a few students were logged into our slide decks and working this morning while I was on made my day already! I’m missing them so much, so even seeing their little Gmail icons warmed my heart ❤️
Thankful for the amazing resources & routines provided for us throughout the school year & what our district has provided for learning at home. It’s helping to make this difficult time a little easier!
So, we were flexible and came up with something that suits us better for now, until we have a better grip on our new normal. A menu for our day. I have so much respect for parents at home right now working & helping their kids learn. I teach every day & this has been tough on me!
Teaching my own child at home while also preparing to teach my students from home has been... interesting. We started with a more strict schedule, but honestly that just wasn’t working. A 7 y/o, 2 y/o, & a puppy aren’t the easiest class to manage while attending virtual meetings!
My 3rd graders started their book clubs a few days ago and we are already witnessing the power of sharing an experience with a great book. They’re pushing themselves to say more, show evidence, think deeply about characters, and grow as a book club member! #TCRWP
