I use to be on the team that's like, "Let kids bring phones into the classroom! We'll use them for learning!"
The problem, and the reason I've changed my stance, is simply that the attention economy makes this nearly impossible.
It's a losing battle for kids & their brain.

@EmilyMartin225@msa_w Hearing where a table full of senior girls are all attending college next year at lunch today made me so proud (and nostalgic)! 🥹
How awesome is it that instead of outsourcing our 8th grade crossover sweatshirts, we just had to look down the hallway! Thank you to @MsHPierre and Ye Old Shoppe student workers for screenprinting and getting these awesome sweatshirts out to our kids! @msa_w#becauseweareWEST
And last but not least, if you are eligible for the 8th grade end of year reward field trip to the movies on 5/13, you will receive a permission slip from me today. Permission slips and money ($11.00 cash or check to MSAW) is due to me next Friday, 5/6! @msa_w
MSAW 8th graders and parents - Information about 8th grade Crossover is attached! I will send a hard copy home with all 8th graders tomorrow! Contact me with any questions. @msa_w#becauseweareWEST
More 8th grade info!!
Attached is the crossover sweatshirt order form. This is also posted in classroom. Copies will be available in the mailbox outside Mrs. Colclough’s door. Money and forms are due to either Mrs. Colclough or Mrs. Pierre by Wednesday 5/4! @msa_w
Successful trip to the @WWIImuseum, now onto lunch at the river walk before heading back to school. Great job to these kids for representing @msa_w so well!
On the bus and PUMPED for the World War II museum with our accelerated 8th graders! Hoping this helps them connect some of the dots between what they learned about WWII in history, and their Elie Wiesel unit in ELA. Thank you Mrs. Dufour for planning! @msa_w@IbervilleSchool
Same to 2nd block! I’m enjoying hearing them discuss some key events of the Civil Rights movement (and “argue” over who is correct 🤣) #becauseweareWEST
Shoutout to first block for improving behaviors and having a more positive attitude from yesterday to today. Smooth pivoting from iReady testing to their gallery walk and now we are rolling. Great job, your teacher appreciates it! 🙌🏻 @msa_w
My girl and I just watched the amazing @PlaquemineHigh marching band in the Baton Rouge St. Paddy’s parade! Loved seeing former students march and perform! Great job everyone! #becauseweareWEST#GreenDevils
Middle schoolers, wear your favorite jersey of any type on Monday with uniform bottoms to kick off our “practice how we play” week! (I’ll be wearing my LeBron) I can’t wait to see how my students will perform on the social studies test. I have high hopes!🎉@msa_w
