@graemepwallace Well said. I also know of a school where the majority of C candidates were downgraded to Ds. Last year they had 25 Higher Cs, this year only 2. Professional judgement in their case clearly counted for nothing.

@Emma_Seith Will be interesting to know the local/ regional pictures. My colleague’s dept have had majority of Higher English Cs changed to Ds - 25Cs last year compared to 2 this year. Pass rate has plummeted. What is the rationale behind it?

@EnglishScotland I thinks there’s sometimes a fine line between preparing them for the exam and letting them to respond the literature. I’d like to think no one is simply “technique spotting” or colour coding without enjoying the poetry - that would be a real shame.
