One of the most important things educators can take away from the PD days leading up to the 1st day of school is how hard it is to sit & focus all day long… and we’re adults.
We all fall into the vortex of negativity sometimes – we forget that we have exactly what we need. We begin to dwell on what lacks (instead of our own abundance) and lose sight of the fact that we’re right where we’re supposed to be, where our feet are, in the moment.
Fifth grader: "He invented butt mints & sold them at school until the teacher made him stop."
Me: "For a second, I thought you said BUTT mints."
Fifth grader: "I did. If you eat a butt mint, your farts won't smell. They worked TOO well for me, though--I couldn't fart for days."
In those moments when you doubt whether or not it's all worth it, just go back & remember what you said when you interviewed for your teaching job. They hired you because you had the right mindset, skillset & heartset. The profession needs you, our students need you. #Culturize
Parents - there’s a National TikTok challenge in which students are instructed to trash the restroom at school. Please have a conversation with your child about respecting their school. It’s not only frustrating to talk with students about vandalism but disheartening.
Fear of the future and what others think are common topics that come up in my office ALL the time. I love using this acronym in these conversations.
Asking “where’s the evidence?” can help dispute irrational thoughts/fears 🧠 #PWCScounseling
