HS math teacher 🍎! Math is an adventure that so many students are scared to journey through - my goal is to transform that journey into a joyful experience😊❤️
Today GPCSD honoured Bear Witness day. St. Jane Frances POD did some fun activities via at home learning - including taking ‘bear selfies’ with a stuffy. Loved seeing some familiar faces again! #BearWitnessDay#Jordanprinciple@GPCSD @StJoesCHS
Practicing math can also be entertaining - played ‘Guess Who’ math version today in Math 30-1 to learn the transformations of Sine and Cosine graphs. So fun! #mathisfun@GPCSD @StJoesCHS
Awesome student collaboration today happening after school - they’re getting ready for an upcoming quiz by walking each other through practice questions! Go team! #mathisfun#collaborationforthewin@gpcsd @StJoesCHS
There’s still a little time left, come to the volleyball tournament at St. Joe’s and support student council with a loonie ball. Costs $2 to enter and you can win a new volleyball full of loonies 💰😁. @GPCSD@JoesCouncil @StJoesCHS
Awesome “speed dating” review of trigonometry in my Math 10C class today. Love all the collaboration happening by my little mathematicians 😁🤓. @GPCSD @StJoesCHS
Made a Geogebra worksheet on Transformations which will double as a review activity for my Math 30-1 students and a project for my masters 👌🏼. This allows them to change the graph they are looking at and visualize how different transformations will affect it🤓@GPCSD @StJoesCHS
Congratulations to the St. Joe’s grad class of 2019!! It has been such an honour and a blessing to have taught some of you over the past year ❤️. Blessings as you enter an often scary but also very exciting new phase of life! Cherish every moment along the way! @GPCSD @StJoesCHS
Awesome activity today using flyers to compare unit rates in math 20-2 - great way to make unit rates more interactive and hands on for the students! #mathisfun@GPCSD @StJoesCHS
Had a fire drill today during math 30-1 and the kids wanted to keep going so they used a hockey stick to draw math questions in the dirt and then discussed how to solve them - such a proud teacher moment ☺️. #collaboration#mathisfun@GPCSD @StJoesCHS
Step 1: fill Easter eggs with math problems
2: hide them
3: have students find them and solve them
4: let students ‘exchange’ their solutions for eggs filled with real chocolate 🍫
5: have the BEST most engaging grade 12 math class ever 🙌🏻🙌🏻
#mathisfun@GPCSD @StJoesCHS
Nothing like grabbing the kids attention by using ‘Trigo’ (aka bingo) and candy to learn the unit circle - see math really can be fun 😁! @GPCSD @StJoesCHS #mathisfun
As a math teacher Pi day is not complete without pie (or tarts) for your students and a nerdy Pi shirt 🙌🏻. Happy Pi day everyone! Also, free pie to anyone who can correctly read my shirt (without google) 😜. @GPCSD @StJoesCHS
I often get asked why I would ever want to become a math teacher - well here is the reason! Got this present from one of my math 30 students today. She hates math a little less now because of me, which makes it all worth it ❤️! #makingmathfunagain @StJoesCHS @GPCSD
Shoutout to St. Joe’s student council for getting up early and making hot chocolate for the school! Make sure to grab your free cup in the common area when you get here this morning ☕️. @StJoesCHS @JoesCouncil@GPCSD
