Loved that this student used her past I-charts to help guide her planning on the most recent ECR. They keep these in their leadership binders as a handy resource!
Our writing process tracker has been so helpful in keeping kids on track and organized. They independently move their sticky when they are ready for the next step. It’s a mini celebration each time they get closer to publishing.
Student selected text and skill focus for their reader’s response! The choice menus this week will help focus their efforts on their specific areas of need!
Historical fiction book tasting in fifth grade! Many students walked away with books they never would have chosen before today! #booktasting#engagement
Working on developing the ingredients for a NF summary. We used sticky notes to define the “mini” main ideas (details). Helping to focus on the big ideas and not the interesting details.
Providing opportunities for my 5th graders that mastered all objectives for a particular unit, to choose their own projects that relate to the big ideas of that unit. This one blew me away! #theme#enrichment#choice
Nothing motivates 5th graders like some vinyl stickers! They get to shop once they receive a “shout-out” from another teacher. #scribnerstickerstore#PositiveVibes
Interactive skill board in 5th! Ss are getting used to working with this as a choice on their menus. Ss choose a previously read mentor text and a graphic organizer to complete on that text. Eventually, this board will change as a way to address individualized student goals.
🤍 an interactive word wall! Once a week on their choice menus, students head to the class word wall and work with vocabulary from read alouds and word study lists. #wordwall#vocabulary
We met our first weekly LEADERSHIP goal!!! This means they earned their reward AND apparently a crab rave dance off. Think we started a tradition. #crabravedance#leadership#workingtogether
