Math student leaders were shining bright today! It is so much fun to finally watch students lead math problems and support their class as they work towards the answer.
Collaboration, leadership and fun all in one! @SnipesAcademy
To wrap up Hispanic Heritage month + practice some mindfulness with deep breathing we had my friend Mireya come in to do a read aloud and share the importance of understanding our emotions!
They loved using bubbles to show their deep breathing in action.
Yesterday we had Coach Harrison from UNCW come in and share all about the literal + figurative heart (W&W Mod. 1) through fun activities!

Shoutout to Wilmington Fire Department for coming out and teaching our kiddos all about fire safety, the science of fire and letting them explore the fire truck. 🚒 🔥
We had the grand opening of our class library — students loved exploring new books, made notes of titles they want to read this year and we discussed some expectations for book care + reading time!

The 4th & 5th graders of @SnipesAcademy received backpacks filled w/ supplies from the Alex Highsmith Family Foundation. Steelers Linebacker Alex Highsmith joined via Google Meet from his training camp to speak with them. His family & other foundation members joined to celebrate.
We had the best time going back in time at @tryonpalace last week—it was so incredible to have a first hand experience of what life was like when North Carolina was a colony. 🚌 🏰
It was a celebration of Black excellence at @SnipesAcademy when local leaders visited for a Black History Month read-in. Curious students learned about their occupations and their contributions to the community. Thanks to all who gave their time!🖤🤎💛💚
Busy, busy, busy week!
We started our mission to help Santa sort out his letters from his silly reindeers using our inferencing skills; they are rocking it!
AND Today we went on our PBIS movie trip that these amazing kiddos worked so hard to earn.
Tis’ the season for all the holiday STEM! This has to be one of my favorites to do—Balloons Over Broadway 🎈
We learned about the history of the parade, how the floats are made and put our design skills to the test.
Nothing I love more than a holiday in an elementary school. Nothing will make you more tired than a holiday in an elementary school. Fear Factor match challenge was a HIT 🕸️🕷️👻Happy Halloween!
We had the best time last night at SP👀KY SCIENCE night! So many incredible science activities, dancing and pie-ing the principal. What could be better than that?! 👻
To continue learning more about Hispanic Heritage we had a guest speaker (our amazing IA) share all about her culture and bring in some authentic Hispanic clothing, money, decor, and even candy to try! #HispanicHeritageMonth
Today students worked in teams to show off their subtraction skills, and then taught their classmates how to solve their problem.
So much fun watching these kids take control of their learning!
