where every child can learn, while also building strong relationships, recognising individual needs and responding with empathy. The best schools combine high expectations with understanding, ensuring every child feels supported, valued and able to thrive.
Children are individuals with different personalities, strengths and needs, and effective teaching requires flexibility alongside consistency.
For me, the answer isn't choosing between firm boundaries and compassion—we need both. Schools should provide calm, purposeful classrooms
Strongly suggest looking at the new technical qualifications- I have- they are robust, rigorous and have better access for all.
Baffles me that people are judging this announcement based on 15 years ago.

This week @lucygambier10 and I were fortunate to be invited to present at the @Steplab_co Steering board. It gave a great opportunity to reflect on the impact of our group PD but also the power of intellectual preparation.
I have collated a summary of the Inclusion Monetary Fund, and answered lots of questions on leaders lips... https://t.co/BTEmf9XR3J
What about the PP funding? What do we need to publish? By When? Check it out!!
I’ve now read the new EEF report on inclusive teaching.
It reinforces what we know. Inclusive teaching isn’t about lowering the bar or creating endless bolt on strategies.
It’s about getting the core of classroom practice right for every pupil, then making ‘in the moment’ purposeful and responsive adaptations.
High expectations, strong teaching and inclusion should never be seen as competing priorities. They all underpin high quality teaching for ALL.

***U MATTER***
Following the success of our 1% Better pilot (targeting students with 90–95% attendance), we’re now launching our U Matter strategy.
This initiative focuses on a key group of students with high U codes ensuring every student is seen, supported, and valued.

G. K. Chesterton explains that reading gives a man more lives than he was born with:
“A man who has read a thousand books is armed for life; a man who has read none is easy prey. The man who has read a thousand books has lived a thousand lives. He has seen cities he has never visited, spoken to men who died centuries ago, and walked in worlds that no longer exist. Reading does not merely inform him; it enlarges him. It stretches the boundaries of his own experience until he becomes something more than himself.”
