As part of our social justice programme, we arranged for a professional boxer to share his story of challenges he experienced at school, and how just 1 person believing in you and supporting you without judgement can be life changing. From adversity to boxing on sky sports!

Meet my 5 year old. A bookworm, creator and writer by nature. Sport scares her but wanted to do something a different after a little growth mindset chat.
She ran the entire way, 1.60 miles in just over 17 mins. She focussed on her goal and achieved it.Proud is an understatement!

I sat in flood of tears watching this! The kindness & support of Mr Burton to help Mushy overcome his barriers,and the perseverance & pride this young man showed. It reignited my childhood dream of becoming a teacher to make a difference. Here I am, not too far away hopefully!🖤

Today I turn 27 YEARS OLD. Which means 11 YEARS AGO I was on Educating Yorkshire. I am so fortunate to live life sharing the power of teachers. Headlines from evaluation forms of 9 YOs expelled from mainstream schools for ‘behaviour issues’. They completed an eight week boxing programme in our community gym and it’s quite apparent they just want to belong. Beyond proud to play a part. Think I have something in my eye…

Saw @BloodBrothers today & there were several GCSE pupils. I spoke to a couple of them on the way out and they were so enraged by the impact of social inequality, ironic considering the two schools were in very affluent areas. Do all pupils have access to this rich curriculum?

Last day of uni today at the Teacher Conference.
Humbled to be sat with such experienced & fresh talent in recently qualified stage 4s & school leaders challenging perspectives, practice and policy in a bid to improve the education, mental health and life chances of every child

Today was session 1 of a boxing & mentoring course for pupils who struggle with traditional education systems but all thrived today. We incorporated maths,science,PE,English, PSHE and history into 90 mins. They were sweating but most importantly, smiling the whole way through 🥹

I was lucky enough to see ‘Titanic the Musical’ today.

I’m embarrassed it’s taken me 26 years to see the obvious social injustice and greed opposed to a glorified love story. Also,I wonder how many of those ridiculously talented artists were told to stop ‘daydreaming’ in class?
