We buddied up today & tested each other on our knowledge of arrays. Using manipulatives gives us the hands-on learning experience we need to understand how multiplication equations can be represented by rows & columns.
Our partnership with the @TexasFarmBureau is a huge blessing to our class. Today’s Farm From School meeting we learned about honey production & pollinators. They sent us amazing resources before the meeting and my students were so excited to connect what they learned to real life
Color coding three facts for our informative writing helps ensure that we stay on topic for supporting details in each paragraph. Writing can be scary for young learners, but we can do anything we set our minds to. #wecandohardthings
For Women’s History Month our class learned about Selena Quintanilla Perez and worked on a collaborative poster to honor her. They did a wonderful job. Tomorrow, we will write and illustrate a short paper giving facts about the Queen of Tejano music. #WomensHistoryMonth
LTC Serna taught us about the many different roles that make up the US Army’s Military Intelligence branch. We also learned the “Iron Soldiers March” in honor of the 1st Armored Division. Thank LTC Serna! We had so much fun learning about your career. #BCE#careerday
Raz Kids allows us to explore expository text and make annotations as we read to help with comprehension. This is a major skill that will prepare us for third grade.
Math centers are a great way to support learning in a variety of ways. We are working on telling time this week. Today’s centers include Meet the Teacher, Buddy Math, Prodigy to practice skills, and Boom Cards for quick assessments. Students always look forward to rotations.
This week a student lead an activity, and I learned something in the process. A sweet second grader taught us “The More We Get Together” in sign language! @GoldenEaglesBCE
We are in the early stages of learning how to write four paragraphs. Pre-writing ensures that we are narrowing down our topic. Our rough draft with paragraph two is done and dusted. Tomorrow we tackle paragraph three. #wegotthis#2ndgrade
In order for us to understand how graphs work, we need to have a relationship with data. Birth months allow us to make number connections with ourselves and each other. Our class gathered data, analyzed it, and shared observations. Tomorrow we dominate bar graphs 🙌🏼
In our class, team work makes the dream work. Students worked together in their Kahoot teams to dominate subtraction with regrouping up to 1,000. Lots of great discussions and reminders of subtraction rules. #studentledlearning#kahootFTW
I cannot wait to give these to my students tomorrow! They are amazing and I’m sad that I have only five more months with this amazing group of young scholars 😭. I hope they will enjoy decorating their cookies during the break.
We are working together to make inferences. Inferencing is a new skill that requires a lot of active listening and speaking as we use our clues to defend our answers.
We took a virtual field trip to Egypt during science. Students closely examined the types of rocks used to build the pyramid and were inspired to build their own. We love Nearpod!
