I posted a tweet yesterday about teachers leaving school-work at school and it is generating a lot of noise, both objection and affirmation.
Let me summarize the objections and rebuttals here.
To repeat, teachers should be leaving their work in the building. Here's why:
It's been 10 days since the last day of school, and I am finally JUST SITTING. (waiting for my new bed to arrive so we can build it, but sitting for now..) What a whirlwind.
The OPS teacher exodus needs to be a wake up call.
Teachers need systemic changes, retention bonuses, and more building autonomy.
Instead, teachers are getting ice cream, thank you notes, $5 gift cards, and jean days.
America needs teachers π We're teaching all the things and doing the best we can. π₯° But we're hanging on like my crumpled affirmation signs. π #15Days
@DeeSTEM_Teach I think the biggest thing is that she TRUSTS us, listens to us, and takes unnecessary things off our plates. The casual dress code and treats help too... ππ @JessicaLoghry
It would be so much more useful for teacher prep programs to teach the neuroscience behind behavior rather than traditional classroom βmanagementβ.
