Worst format I've seen wasn't CAIQ.

It was a 600-row custom Excel with merged cells, "explain your MFA" three different ways, and a buyer who wanted it back Friday.

Evidence was fine. The format was the product.

One rule that cut our questionnaire rewrite time:

Every Yes needs a cite (doc + section + date reviewed).
If you can't cite it, mark it UNVERIFIED — don't invent confidence.

Golden spreadsheets rot. Cited evidence ages slower.

Still copying the same encryption / access-control answers into a new vendor spreadsheet every quarter.

The sheet changes. The policy didn't. The hours somehow still vanish.

That's the part I'm trying to kill before we ship tonight.
