Sometimes, teachers don’t need their administrators to inspire them, motivate them, or even lead them.
Sometimes, what teachers need... is for their administrators to listen to them, understand them, and validate their experiences.
My message to our staff right now is simple - keep it simple!
My job as principal right is simple - keep it simple for my staff!
This is not the time to over complicate the work we are doing! Keep it simple! Keep the main thing, the main thing!
Leaders can bring positive energy into the school. They can provide meaningful support for their staff. They can genuinely communicate how much they value their people.
It doesn’t have to take extra $$$ or extraordinary expertise. But it does require passion for the work.

Some thoughts on raising staff morale:
1. Trust staff to do their job... and give them the freedom to do it. Respect their professionalism.
2. Thank staff for doing their job; never take it for granted.
3. Listen to the concerns of staff... and act on them when you can.
Leaders need to be willing to listen to bad news. They need to be willing to hear uncomfortable truths. And they need to create a culture in the organization where everyone feels ok speaking up.

You didn't get trained to be a remote teacher in college.
You didn't get taught remotely when you were growing up.
Give yourself a break. You will get better over time.
