Every challenge is an opportunity! In order to grow we have to take our mess and make it our message. We have to transform our tests into our testimony. We have to take every challenge in our lives and use them to create a better future.
There will be no school for students tomorrow while teachers use the day to plan and prepare for upcoming lessons.
Enjoy the day off and we’ll see everyone back soon!
If you know me, you know that I have been a long time fan of the picture word inductive model. Emily Calhoun introduced this technique several decades ago and since then teachers around the globe have modified and made it our own. I’m sharing a one page document that includes a brief description, step-by-step implementation, benefits, and extensions. You can find it on my website https://t.co/VVi99PdE7o.

Students come to the classroom with unique strengths, backgrounds, and experiences that shape how they learn to read and write. To support ALL learners, we must:
♥️ Embrace Multilingualism – Honor and leverage students’ home languages as assets in literacy development.
📝 Differentiate Instruction – Provide targeted support and scaffolds to meet diverse learning needs.
📚 Use Culturally Relevant Texts – Engage students with materials that reflect their identities and experiences.
🔤 Integrate Language & Content – Help students build literacy skills while learning meaningful content.
When we tailor literacy instruction to the needs of every student, we empower them to become confident, capable readers and writers.
How do you ensure literacy success in your classroom?
