Before the internet, a game mistake like this would be raged about on your couch to your family. Now, hundreds of thousands of “fans” can post whatever they want to this player online. Imagine if he was your son, brother, or friend. It’s not being “soft,” it’s being human.
Use social media to uplift, not to tear down. I’m certain he’s doing enough of that to himself. Being kind isn’t dangerous, but the consequences of being mean are.

If you wonder why mental health tends to be talked about more “these days,” it’s because social media amplifies unreasonable expectations for kids and allows for excessive and unrelenting emotional harm that no longer only takes place on the school playground.
