As a white, privileged, female, I vow to reflect upon the biases I hold and acknowledge them when they are directed toward a student or person. It is going to take practice, but I can ensure this by being aware of it and not acting upon it so create a place of equity

@MaiaCam04741933 Hi Maria! I agree that teachers contribute to the upholding of biases toward certain students. It creates an uncomfortable environment for the student in which they will be less likely to participate and learn from.
@kfscalise Hi Keeley! I completely agree that the things children hear at home definitely reflect in the classroom. Unfortunately this can cause students to view others in a poor way, but teachers can create a more accepting environment so the child knows that is not acceptable behavior.
A3: Implicit biases can reveal themselves within the classroom environment by the way the teacher acts upon their own biases. If a child speaks Spanish as their first language and their parents do not practice English at home the teacher may give them less attention.

@missmelissaguzm Hi Melissa!
I am so sorry that you felt that way. It's a shame that some people hold that bias toward people who's first language is not English. I think that it's great you don't want those students to feel the way that you did in their situation.
A2: As a female, I have experienced many biases regarding my gender. Some of my male friends used to joke about my driving because it is a common stereotype that, "women can't drive as well as men". They also commonly joked about my cooking and cleaning abilities.
