For every person that dies by suicide, 280 people think seriously about it. We can help more people get through their worst moments by increasing access to care through 9-8-8 and passing the National Suicide Hotline Designation Act. #988CantWait https://t.co/QvqamaLBRD
Needed this reminder. Virtual learning and teaching has been wearing me down. I feel like I’m always behind or that I’ve made too many mistakes. This season of challenges has really brought out my anxiety. Sometimes it’s enough to just be.
A common misconception I've heard is that calling/texting the crisis line alerts the police. It doesn't. It's private and it is here to help. They aren't looking to hunt you down; they just want to get you through a hard moment.
Traumatic anniversaries can be hard on our mental health. If you are struggling, please tell someone you trust, text @CrisisTextLine (741-741) or call the @800273TALK. #NeverForget
I've been working on building a website for my students and parents today. If you want a treat, check out the daily jokes and character education videos 😄

My first suicide attempt was in high school; my last suicide attempt was April 29, 2020. Absolutely no one knew. I woke up the next afternoon groggy and hungover from an overdose that should have killed me. I advocate to #endthestigma not just for my students, but for me too.
Today is Day 4 of National Suicide Prevention Week.
We’re inviting you to challenge stigma by sharing your mental health story or how suicide has impacted you—because your struggles & your grief do not need to be kept quiet.

is by far the safer option - please don't misunderstand that. I just miss being good at my job. I miss making a difference. I miss the kids. So, as I sit in front of a classroom filled with empty desks, I get tears in my eyes. This isn't why I became a teacher.
Today is hard. I hate walking through the halls without hearing students chatter. I hate sitting in my classroom with empty desks. I hate scheduling Zoom meetings that students don't attend. I hate the paperwork. I hate the desk job. The one thing 1/3
that I felt like made me a good teacher is how I am with the kids. I was never a good lesson-planner, curriculum developer, deadline meet-er. But my kids smiled and hugged me when they saw me. They came to me with their problems. They felt safe with me. Teaching virtually 2/3
