#CCED421para@tlanglie Q8. SPED paras need more trainings on individuals conditions, behaviors, medications etc. Their job is to help more on an individual level. Title 1 paras should have trainings and understandings on the demographics in the school they are working in.
@tlanglie#CCED421para Q. 7 the difference between the 2 is that Title 1 paras are meant to benefit the school as a whole (behaviors, co-teaching, instructional supports) SPED paras assist certain individuals to help meet their academic needs in a regular classroom.
#CCED421para@tlanglie Q.5 I have learned that 99% of the time, paras are not able to assist with teaching due to behaviors erupting in classrooms recently. Paras seem to be the go to person when behaviors erupt even if it is not for their assigned student.
#ED421plc Q7. Personally I would add more time to PLC. IF the main purpose is to use student data to better assess needs, there is not enough time to deep dive and prepare for as many students needs in the classroom. As well as allow time for teachers to plan/pace as grade level
#ED421plc Q6. Stated in my last post, I feel there is not enough time in which PLC is meant for (ie student data) & what teachers need it for (ie laundry list). The other downside is that it's during prep time in which many teachers feels this takes away from their personal time
#ED421plc Q5. One thing that has surprised me is the amount of information we want to talk about but not all is discussed due to time. Unfortunately it means some topics are pushed off to be discussed at later dates which might not be best for student needs.
However we have a 3rd year teacher and the veteran teachers are able to help her through new tasks she has questions on. This makes me feel relieved for when I get my own classroom.
#ED421plc Q4. One big takeaway from PLC is that no matter your year in teaching, each member of PLC is there to support you even when you are new. Coming into teaching this year, I felt overwhelmed that when I get my own classroom, I am going to feel the same way.
#ED421plc Q3. I do feel like everyone in my PLC has a voice and is heard by my PLC. However I do feel there is frustration surrounding admin hearing concerns stemming from PLC groups. Most are expressed and addressed but usually from the "leader" of each PLC.
#ED421plc Q2. PLC's used to be led by a grade level leader however they have eliminated that position. Even though it has been eliminated, the previous years leader still seems to be the one everyone leans on. Agendas are sent by admin if certain topics need to be discussed,
#ED421plc Q1. In my school, I have noticed PLC being used as time for laundry list of items such as pacing and planning. Recently it has been switched to data driven for our small group instruction but many teachers are not excited about it being told what to discuss.
#CCED421para@tlanglie Q4. Supervision for what they are doing in your classroom & how students are benefiting is done by both of you collaboratively. Para & Teacher is done so as a team as much as possible. Supervisors at my school are special eduction teachers w/teachers.
Q3. Teachers and paras are to collaborate as often as it benefits students learning. If a para is in the classroom and can take other small groups every time, then it should be them collaborating a majority of the time. If not, then it is as much as will benefit students.

Q1. In my classroom, we do not have a continuous para. We have one who joins on occasion if our self contained student is in the classroom which is very rare in the occasion they are there. If they are, they assist with them and any other student behavior.
@RLCooney One major way is to be open to many new ideas! New teachers can bring in fresh ideas or help veteran teachers adapt their practices to the changing needs of students! Another way is to adapt old curriculum practices to new technology! @tlanglie#CCEDUC421
