Here's a look inside the Ontario Legislature as CUPE members protested the government's unprecedented use of the notwithstanding clause to force a contract on 55,000 education support workers.

Last day to vote CUPE edu friends! Early reports show we have broken records! 10s of 1000s of workers like you using their voice to say yes in the face of a govt & school boards who keep saying no! Don’t forget to vote! #OSBCUGOTV2022
“Kids deserve the best professionals in their classrooms and in their schools, but education workers cannot be at our best if we’re exhausted, if we are forced to work second or third jobs, just to make ends meet.”~Walton

“This is people’s livelihoods; it’s important. We’re hoping with the conciliation officer coming on board, that will help focus — this is what’s important.”

As an EA, I know first hand about the cuts to Special Ed. When a student with autism gets a .5 cut in support a day, I ask, "Which half of the day is he not going to be autistic?" Wages are not the only issue with Ed workers in #onted.
51.4% of @osbcucscso#education workers had to work at least one more job to make ends meet.
91% faced at least one form of financial hardship due to their low wages.
The status quo & concessions are not what we deserve.

Thank you to @jamiewestndp for rising at Queens Park to discuss the issue that is far too prevalent w/ education workers. Workers like Charity have seen their wages capped while costs soar. Now @Sflecce wants us to take even less! https://t.co/L26glsaW8S
CUPE Education Workers have put forth a proposal that is affordable, reasonable & necessary. In response @Sflecce insulted us with with a pocket change. Our proposal is clear & available to the public. We will continue to fight - our students deserve it!
Due to inclement weather, all ALCDSB schools are CLOSED Jan. 17. All in-person and virtual learning is CANCELLED. We look forward to seeing students & staff back in the classroom tomorrow. Stay safe everyone!
