Proof our students @LaPromesa_AISD can achieve anything when only given the right environment! Congratulations to the students and to our teachers who not only gave good instruction but also provide the encouragement our students needed. #NewcomersCan
Thank you to our amazing paraprofessionals for the love and work they give @LaPromesa_AISD. Gracias por su trabajo y dedicación @Cristina1102, Ms. Bonilla y Mr. Smith.
This week @LaPromesa_AISD our students had lots of fun making video presentations using @MicrosoftFlip Credit for this lesson goes to @Dulcevgriffin our first year teacher who knows the importance of experiential learning for our students!
Today, our WH students @LaPromesa_AISD engaged in experiential learning through role-play. Students reflected on the harsh conditions of trench warfare and the effects of new technology on the battlefield. Thank you @Dulcevgriffin and @ChrisCmarti26 for this learning experience!
@MichelleMSlaton@NAELPAforELs We can make content comprehensible for students using their L1 before engaging with content in their new language. Visuals, videos in the L1, & translated materials used to preview a lesson can lower their affective filter and provide the support needed to engage in the classroom
@NAELPAforELs I agree that self assessment is very important because all students grow at a different pace. When students learn to reflect on their strengths and areas of improvement, they can self-monitor and gain autonomy. This can help increase motivation and speed up proficiency growth.
@NAELPAforELs Students need language in order to access content, and engaging with language in meaningful ways leads to growth. Activities that include oral and written discourse in the classroom support both language growth and academic success. #LiteracyforMLLs
