This means there is likely no good reasons for there to be this many mail in ballots coming in the last few days

Hi @DrTurleyTalks watched your recent video on CA DMV auto registering people to vote and according to A.I. that's not exactly true: 🤔

The accurate statement is:
If you are eligible to vote and complete a qualifying DMV transaction (driver's license, ID card, renewal, or change of address), California's Motor Voter system will generally process you for voter registration unless you decline (opt out).
During the DMV transaction, you are asked questions regarding citizenship and voter eligibility. If you indicate you are eligible and do not opt out, your information is transmitted to the Secretary of State for voter registration or registration updates.
People who are not eligible to vote (for example, non-citizens) are not supposed to be registered through the program. AB 60 license holders are specifically excluded.
So the claim that "everyone who walks into the DMV is automatically registered to vote" is false.
A more accurate statement would be:
"California uses an opt-out voter registration system at the DMV. Eligible applicants are registered or have their voter registration updated unless they decline."
One nuance: some critics argue that California's current system is not truly "fully automatic" because applicants are still presented with voter-registration-related questions and can choose to decline. In fact, legislation that would have made registration even more automatic was proposed but not implemented.
