And 51 years ago, just three years after Title IX was passed, boys were already forcing girls out of their own sports.
Here are photos of the 1975 IHSAA "girls'" volleyball state championships where two boys carried the South Bend Clay team to the state final, the 1976 IHSAA state champs where the South Bend Adams "girls'" team won the state championship title using three boys, and the 1975 "girls" IHSAA tennis state championships where the "girls'" doubles title was won by boy.
About 90 stolen state championship titles later and we're still here, with thousands of girls forced to compete against boys every year in their own sports.
Girls have been hurt, girls have been assualted, girls have had their privacy violated, girls have lost championship titles and scholarships, and here you are calling it a "purity test" and a "distraction."
No, sir, you are the one trying to distract women and girls from things that are important and meaningful to us.
FFS, just take care of it at the federal level and then it won't be able to "distract" us anymore, will it? There is only one party trying to prolong this, and unfortunately, it's one I have always been told had the best interests of women and girls at heart.
You can hold two ideas in your head at the same time.
You can be pro-men and also anti-sexism.
You can be pro-women’s rights and also support trans people.
You can be pro-environment and against alternative energy fraud and waste.
You can have an allegiance to a political party and also be fiercely critical of any of their mismanagement.
You can support freedom of religion, but draw the line when that religion wants to fundamentally change the structure of the US.
You can support people with new ideas, and also tell them when their ideas don’t hold water.
You can also change your mind whenever you feel like it.
Stephen A. Smith GOES OFF on WNBA coach’s “Trans kids belong” t-shirt.
“That is an IRRESPONSIBLE thing to do!”
SMITH: “This is not about being anti-anything. This is about being PRO-GIRLS... You can’t be born a male, transition into female and think that you should have the right to compete with women!"
“Not in basketball, not in football, not in boxing, not in the UFC. Hell, not even in tennis!
“It’s an aberration (anomaly) when you find somebody like a Serena Williams serving 120 miles, 125 miles an hour. That’s ORDINARY for Djokovic... That was ordinary for Sampras, Agassi, and all of these guys."
“We gotta stop acting like somebody that’s speaking up on behalf of girls, like a Sophie Cunningham, like a Riley Gaines, are scourges of the earth."
"You are Cheryl Reeve, the head coach of the Minnesota Lynx. That is an irresponsible thing to do... Do you not think that the females are being SCREWED OVER if they have to compete against an individual born as a male? What are you talking about?!"
“Nobody said you can't transition from male to female. The issue here is competing against the women. That’s what Sophie Cunningham was talking about. That’s what Riley Gaines is talking about. How are you, Coach Cheryl Reeve, and you could condone that, and then you gonna come out with a T-shirt?"
“No regard for the WNBA, no regard for the sponsors that may be put off by that. No regard for the bottom line that might be affected because of a position that she has taken that YOU KNOW is going to be politicized because that’s what you did.”
“How is that okay? How?!”
I'm not backing down from this one.
You can support people's rights AND believe biological men shouldn't compete in women's sports. Those two things are not mutually exclusive.
My issue isn't hate. It's protecting women, protecting girls, and asking why a WNBA coach chose to inject herself into a controversy that could hurt the very league she's supposed to represent.
Common sense still matters. That's where I stand.
My full remarks are on YouTube.
Women and girls who were once excluded from athletics should never have to fight for those opportunities again.
Title IX protects women and girls.
The issue isn't professional sports. It's whether girls can compete fairly, safely, and with equal opportunity.
There's an assumption that sports mean more to “trans kids” than girls. Or that male athletes having access to sports is more important than girls having access to sports. It's disturbing that it is adults making this assumption and putting the onus on girls to sacrifice their safety and opportunities in sports.
The most logical solution is for everyone to compete in the category that aligns with their sex. But of course that would not be good enough for these men's privilege activists.
So her player, Sophie Cunningham, spoke up for women, but the head coach won’t?? I’m just so disappointed in this answer from a woman I have loved & respected since she was a kid and won Indiana Miss Basketball in 1995. I remember being so excited back then to interview such a strong young woman. She’s also incredibly smart. And kind. Stephanie White knows the truth. She knows better. They ALL know better, yet none of them have the courage to speak the truth. What a shame. And once again, THANK YOU @sophaller !!
Bill Maher’s audience audibly gasps when he reads what the Democratic Socialists of America are actually saying out loud:
MAHER: “Trump has told 1 trillion lies, but when he says the DSA are actually COMMUNISTS, that’s not one of them.”
“And it’s not hard to prove it just by quoting the DSA and their candidates.”
“J.D. Vance was on the show, and I told him that if the Democratic Party keeps going in the direction of the DSA, my vote was in play. And all I heard all vacation was, ‘Oh, my God, you’re a Republican now.’ No, that's not what I said. I said in play, and here’s why.”
“Because not a week goes by where I don’t read about some newly chosen, exciting new face in the Democratic Party. And then when that face opens its mouth, the Communist Manifesto or some other crazy shit comes out! Again.”
“Let’s just read the quotes. The DSA platform says: ‘You work as much as you are able and no more than needed.’ If that was any closer to Karl Marx’s dictum, from each according to his abilities, to each according to his needs, they’d be sued for plagiarism.”
“New York Mayor Mamdani once tweeted, Karl Marx’s words exactly. They’re not trying to hide it. Their most popular influencer, Hasan Piker, thinks communism is so groovy, he laments the fall of two of the most murderous regimes in history, the Soviet Union and Chairman Mao's China.”
“Mamdani's aide, his top aide, Cea Weaver, said, ‘If you don't believe in the government's sacred right to seize property, it's over.’ And ‘impoverish the white middle class.’ What? That's a goal? You know you're supposed to scare people into voting for you, right?”
“One of the new, soon-to-be Democratic congresspeople, Darlesia Chavalier, supports seizing all properties from landlords and said, ‘Seize the means of production.’ Mamdani has said ‘The end goal is seizing the means of production.’ I think they want to seize the means of production.”
“Now, maybe you missed that in school or missed school altogether, but THAT'S COMMUNISM.”
“Now the coalition within the DSA called the Marxist Unity Group is in ascendance. And I must take them at their word. When their words include, ‘Our commitment is to the long-term struggle for a fully liberated classless society. In a word, communism.’”
“What do they have to do, tweet out ‘Elect more communists’? Oh, yeah, Cea Weaver did that.”
[Shows tweet, audience audibly gasps]
“Yes, [she really did that]! ... People gotta realize this is going on.”
Boy George made a song defending Israel.
Two days later, a former co-star who spent years telling people Boy George was “really nice” decided he was actually a terrible performer and always had been. Embarrassing to work with, apparently.
Nothing about his performance changed between last week and this week. Only one thing changed.
Nobody argued with the song. Nobody engaged with a word of it. They just went back and rewrote what they thought of him — because that’s the price now for mourning dead Jews out loud.
He’s 64. He’s been getting punished for being himself since before half his critics were born. He sang it anyway.
Take a bow.
So many people are calling me and saying I should pipe down and let it blow over and while they mean well I'm afraid it's not an option.
Doubling down works for Donald Trump and we share a birthday with Che Guevara, Alan Carr and Paul O'Grady.
What a supergroup that would be. Move over Steps.
What is most shocking is the amount of gay folk attacking me but I am smart enough to realise that what you are cannot disguise who you are. No gay person speaks for an entire community and if you support terrorism you can in the words of Divine 'Take your toolkit and go fuck a garage'.
When I say 'they want to kill every last one of us' I am also talking about us queers not just the Jewish community. When will you wake up?
Regardless of which side you take, I am disgusted by anyone who posts hatred against anyone but refuses to show their face.
If you have something powerful to say then you should have the guts to show the world who you are but most, if not all of you, are unwilling to show your faces and the only reason is self interest.
🦔AI companies are bulk-buying rare books, scanning them through high-speed machines that cut the spines off, and shredding the originals. A service called ISBNdb facilitates orders of up to a million books and keeps buyers anonymous. Pre-2022 books are premium because they're free of AI-generated text. A federal judge ruled the practice is fair use because eliminating the original means only one copy exists at a time. Anthropic hired the former head of Google Books partnerships to obtain "all the books in the world."
My Take
This got to me. A bookseller told 404 Media that rare books with almost no surviving copies are being fed into this pipeline. Books that survived wars, fires, and centuries of handling are being shredded so an AI can learn to write a better marketing email.
ISBNdb's website literally says "'AI company destroys two million books' is not a headline that generates sympathy," and they still built an entire business around making it happen quietly. They offer NDAs as a feature. They coach clients to call it "digital preservation."
I've covered AI companies scraping the internet, torrenting libraries, and stealing music. This is worse because it's irreversible. You can re-upload a website. You can reprint a bestseller. You can't replace the last three copies of an 18th-century botanical text once someone shreds them for training data. And the judge said it's legal. So it's going to accelerate.
"We shred rare books and offer NDAs so nobody finds out" is a legitimate business model in 2026. What a timeline.

Sixty-one years ago today, Bob Dylan performed his famous and controversial electric set at the Newport Folk Festival.
Dylan opened with a blistering version of “Maggie’s Farm,” featuring Michael Bloomfield on guitar.
Staggering indeed... especially for something they say never happens.
All credit goes to the hard work of the folks at https://t.co/ocpetGBeAD which is a database of actual female sports events in which a male competed. Each entry is easily verifiable by news reports and event results published by school, local, state, national and world sports governing bodies. Entries can only be added by the DB Administrator. The DB is searchable, sortable, and downloadable.
As of 7/22/26, men have stolen 1st place in women's sports events 6,251 times.
Men have robbed women of top 3 finishes 11,505 times.
Males have stolen from women:
69 world championship titles,
354 gold medals in international competition,
64 continental championships,
461 national championships,
5 Olympic gold medals.
Males have stolen 994 top three "women's" world and national championship medals.
Males have set and reset "women's" records over 689 times and currently hold 471 records, including 20 world records.
Men have stolen over $2.4 million from female athletes.
This is the message young girls receive when athletes like Sophie Cunningham use their platform to speak the truth in love.
Courage IS contagious. It sounds cliche, but it's true.
