So excited to show my students my #BitmojiClassroom this year! Iโm hoping that this makes #LearningFromHome more engaging and enjoyable for the students, and that it keeps the fun in #literacy that we strive for in my actual classroom ๐ฅฐ #BackToSchool2020
#BackToSchool looks a little different this year! Thankful for the ability to set up a temporary at home work space while we wait for in person instruction! And love this #BitmojiLocker assignment I created with colleagues today! Looking forward to seeing my real classroom 9/8!
Infographic Graffiti! An intro to infographics ๐Another movement related activity (which is so important in my 2 hour block). Students independently jotted their observations about infographics and then shared their thoughts with their group.
Defend Your Corner! An activity designed to get students thinking about their thinking! Played some music and had students rotate around the room at their leisure to get them up and moving! #ELA#ELAClassroom#k12#learning#literacy
After a class discussion about what real #collaboration looks like, we worked on our first #jigsaw! I love this method in the classroom - it gives students complete ownership of the material. We used it for the #6TraitsofWriting, which 6th graders havenโt seen yet! ๐
Today in my period 2/3 #ELA we worked on #MakingInferences, which is a vital โReading is Thinkingโ skill for the first days of instruction! We used โtext message analysisโ to draw conclusions and students were moving and engaged! #middleschool#engchat
Just got to see #MsFlorioโs Classroom; welcoming reading corner, and selection of picture books for summarize activity ๐ Love that she chooses books to promote inclusivity! Everyone represented @EWRSDK12 ! โค๏ธ
Using our #firstdayofschool to reinforce our basic skills and develop class habits! Today we used classic and fresh picture books to practice SWBST summarizing strategy! Encouraging #collaboration and #accountabletalk in the #ELA classroom ๐
