i wish teachers had allowed headphones during tests.

i always listen to rain sounds or instrumental music when i need to focus. it helps drown out bg noise + distracting thoughts.

would’ve loved a Walkman with approved classroom CDs to pick from (for students with #ADHD, etc.)

- Find a quiet space to work that’s not your dorm room (library, computer lab)
- Block social media with StayFocusd Chrome extension
- Tell profs about #ADHD
- Find someone from class to study with
- Avoid 8:00 AM classes if possible
- See a counselor *before* things get terrible

When I interviewed my granddad he told me about growing up in 1930s Mississippi & the tremors of fear his small town felt when a neighbor was lynched by a white mob.

There are ppl still alive for whom lynchings weren't an abstraction. They still carry that fear in their bones.
