Reminding myself that where there is change there is growth ๐ฑ. Arrived here 5 years ago as a lifelong learner, leaving today with lifelong friends and many new passions๐โ๏ธ
This week at MJS we had three amazing Indigenous Cultural Facilitators spend time in our classrooms. Division 12 loved learning how to play Slahal (a game of chance and sportsmanship) from Dennis, a member of the Kwantlen community! #sd36learn
After reading Just Like Grandma by Kim Rogers students had a conversation focused on generational roles and responsibilities in their families and started to understand why we value different roles and why they are important #sd36learn
We have been focusing on empathy for the past two weeks. We made recent connections to Orange Shirt Day after reading When We Were Alone. Here is our empathy writing and our directed drawing led by Ovi, a Coast Salish artist and designer.
Students have been practicing stitching on foam - we went from an initial explore phase with minimal instructions to measuring the length between each stitch in CMs and sewing through two pieces of foam! More steps to come ๐งตโจ #sd36learns#ADST@Kdmcarthur11 is the best helper!
I'm in love with these amazing #salmon inquiry projects done by some gr 2/3 #MJS students. These students have been tracking our salmon growth.

As teachers, we feel a lot of pressure to ensure all of our students needs are being met academically. At the end of the day, itโs not about who can read at grade level or who can solve all of the math equations correctly. Itโs about so much more than that. #whyiteach
Last week I spent my Thursday morning learning from @feuz_a alongside other colleagues! Great conversations about Oral Language Assessment were had, and new ideas were shared ๐ฑ #sd36learn
