Today is Constitution Day — on September 17, 1787, when the framers signed the U.S. Constitution. 238 years and 27 amendments later, it remains the foundation for American democracy.
For Wild Card Wednesday, here are some Constitution facts:
The Constitution has only ~4,400 words, making it the shortest written constitution of any major government.
There’s a spelling error above the signers’ names: “Pensylvania” (missing an “n”) appears on the document.
It was penned by Jacob Shallus (a Pennsylvania clerk) for $30 — which would be about $1,027 today.
Happy Constitution Day! 📜 #OnThisDay in 1787, delegates to the Constitutional Convention gathered in Philadelphia to sign the Constitution, shaping the future of the United States.
Check it! Christopher Jackson and other members of the #HamFam reunited for a powerhouse performance of “One Last Time” at The Town Hall Spring Shout Benefit Concert.
