Five major Ontario school boards that have been under the direct supervision of the Ford government for a year or more have posted budget deficits despite the education minister blaming trustees for their financial turmoil.

#OSSTF is encouraging teacher and occasional teacher members to participate in a new research study on inclusive education and supporting students with giftedness.
Researchers from the University of British Columbia are exploring educators’ experiences, instructional practices, challenges, and professional learning needs related to supporting advanced learners in classrooms across Canada.
The study aims to:
✔️ Identify professional learning opportunities and promising practices
✔️ Support stronger alignment between inclusive education policies and classroom realities
Participation includes a voluntary 15–20 minute online survey, with an optional follow-up Zoom interview.
If you are a teacher or occasional teacher interested in contributing to this research, learn more and participate here: https://t.co/icSOAyFvFw
More than 10,000 full-time college support staff are ON STRIKE as of 12:01 a.m. This is not just a fight for a contract – it’s about the future of student support. We’re fighting because we know our students need us.

I feel that a dating app specifically for teachers is a million dollar idea. So many potential names:
“After Class”
“Staff Meeting”
“Teachers’ Lounge”
Etc.
Someone needs to get on this… 🤔
Tell Doug Ford to STOP underfunding colleges 🛑
Going to college in Ontario shouldn’t make you feel like just a number. And working at one shouldn’t end in a layoff. But nearly all of Ontario’s 24 public colleges are now facing program cuts, campus closures, and mass layoffs, the direct result of a government that has turned its back on post-secondary education in Ontario!
🌍 In a world where a tariff war is reshaping the economy, Ontario should be investing in the skills and knowledge that will keep our province competitive. But instead, our government is gutting our colleges & putting our province's future at risk.
It would take $1.4 billion in emergency funding to stop the cuts and another $1.34 billion to bring funding up to the national average. Sounds like a lot of money but Ford is ready to spend $55 billion on building a tunnel under the 401 🤦🏽
Our colleges deserve better. Students deserve better!
📢 Send a message to the government: Fund our colleges now ▶️ https://t.co/97W3zHEk5D

With all due respect, non-teachers - don't ask for my opinion on the cellphone ban (2.0) unless you also want my opinion on larger class sizes, cuts to grants for student needs, e-learning requirements (really, post-pandemic?!!) and Doug Ford in general. Deal? #OntEd#onpoli
Had my first chance to test out the schools new phone policy. Girl refused to get off her phone. Did the warnings, did the parent contacts. Called the office, they did come and get her. She refused to give up the phone to them. They sent her back to class with the phone
