Teaching texts with themes of morality, ethics, and corruption? (I'm thinking #Orwell but I might be biased towards his books)...
Thank you @APLit_Teacher for another unique graphic work to include in a lesson plan!
I love the idea of pairing canonical lit with modern graphic novels to make texts more accessible and engaging. Here are ten unique pairings I never would have thought of on my own, but absolutely want to use in the classroom now! #ncte#nctevillage

A concern I have about using Twitter in the classroom is the risk of students abusing class time when working on Twitter assignments. One option is to only assign these projects as homework, but I think it's important for students to have time for communal learning!
Thoughts?
In my future classroom, I'd like to utilize Twitter as a summative assessment. One idea is to have students set up accounts for characters in a core text and use the account (posting, replying, and retweeting) to interact with the novel from the perspective of their character!
Twitter allows us to see new POVs! I believe students can have this experience by using this platform in class. I can imagine students setting up accounts to ask questions, post about content related insights, and interact with each other's perspectives in a low-stakes setting.
As a developing teacher, I need a lot of advice. Twitter has allowed me to reflect on my learning each week by helping me ask current #teachers about the methodology I've learned about but haven't seen in action, content/field specific questions, and the art of teaching overall!
Q6. If you had to read a novel alongside your students for the first time -- one you have not read but would be interested to learn with them and along side them -- which novel would you choose?

Tag-along question: to those planning around themes, do y'all center on large themes per unit, or choose overarching themes to guide your year-long curriculum plan? #ncte#nctevillage
Looking for any and all recommendations for visual/musical/film pairings to go along with Achebe’s novel, Things Fall Apart. So far, I’m working with a graphic review of Heart of Darkness and a clip from “Apocalypse Now.”

@KellyGToGo Just to add one in...Yone Noguchi! Love his autobiographical prose and reimagined haikus! "Some Stories of My Western Life" and "I Hail Myself as I do Homer" are my favorites.
Whose tried out Gallagher and Kittle's class-time break down:
1) Independent/class reading
2) Daily writing activity
3) Mini-lesson
4) Continued work on bigger writing assignments
5) Debrief and share-outs
Have y'all found this to be successful? #ncte#NCTEvillage#NCTE19
I'm interested in the idea of my students diving deeper into the study of one author, so I recently asked you for suggestions of authors who write both poetry and prose. Here were your suggestions: https://t.co/fF492OpFAw
