@LeBon_Voyage A6: Thinking about the Planning & Ops aspect of school improvement and leadership is important. In previous roles, I have been fortunate to see strong leadership in Ops and have not had much direct experience problem solving in this lever. #tpla
@LeBon_Voyage A5: Being creative and flexible seems to be important in thinking through a budget. Open dialogue with key stakeholders including facilities managers and community members is also critical. #tpla
@LeBon_Voyage A4: When it comes to instructional time, systematizing in-class transitions schoolwide (first five, exit routine, etc) cuts down on inefficiency. Also, to max time with teachers, scope out PD early on and get feedback weekly to time topics accordingly. #tpla
@LeBon_Voyage A3: In Lever 4, Community and District Relationships, all stakeholders are engaged in the collective work of driving student outcomes. Investment here can unlock resources and family involvement that students absolutely need in order to be wholly successful. #tpla
@LeBon_Voyage A2: School operations are the pieces of the puzzle that go unnoticed when things are going well, and the first thing that we notice when something goes wrong. The more 'glamorous' parts of school improvement always involve people, and not the moving parts behind the scenes. #tpla
@LeBon_Voyage A6: I've realized that hiring is not a finite event. It's a whole process, and the needs of a new to you teacher will extend far beyond the first month of school. Principals need to create systems to support accordingly and proactively. #tpla
@LeBon_Voyage A5: It means that development and onboarding is a long process that involves many stakeholders. Once hired, leaders need to invest their time and resources to make a new teacher ready to build a successful culture and work well as part of a team. #tpla
@LeBon_Voyage A4: Principals need to be super clear in the school vision and values. With individuals, consider the candidate's coachability and core values before hiring. Does this person want to get better? What do they believe about kids and families? Are their priorities aligned? #tpla
@LeBon_Voyage A3: In Lever 4, Prof. Learning & Collaboration, teachers are able to plan together and learn from each other. They can hold each other accountable and analyze data in a way that's better together than alone. Students benefit from higher quality materials and reteach plans. #tpla
