Supporting students will never change for me ๐
Watching their college acceptances turn into commitments is a reminder of why I do this work. Every check-in, every conversation, every push mattered.
Proud of my students for choosing their next chapter๐โจ

โWithout relationships, no real learning occurs.โ โ @E_Sheninger
Even currently on medical leave, my students checked on me and stepped up as leaders. Thatโs how you know the connection is real and the work matters. ๐

Love this reflection, Shannon. it really centers what matters most. Chapter 6 of Personalize: Meeting the Needs of All Learners reminds us that relationships arenโt an โadd-onโ to instruction they are the foundation. When students feel seen, valued, and connected, engagement becomes natural, not forced.
It also pushes us to think beyond surface-level interactions and toward intentional relationship-building as a core leadership and instructional practice. Thatโs where personalization truly lives not just in strategies, but in how we show up for students every day.
Data isnโt just numbers, itโs stories.
Behind every score is a student navigating emotions, experiences, and unseen barriers.
When we listen closely, we donโt just analyze data we respond to it with purpose.

If Tier 1 is truly personalized with voice, choice, and real-time responsiveness, fewer students should need intervention at all. Tiers then become less about placement and more about precision, relationships, and meeting needs in the moment.
This shift moves us from reacting to student struggles โ to designing for student success from the start.

Listening to Black Educators Matter reminded me that authenticity is more than being โrealโ itโs being intentional, culturally grounded, and student-centered. When we lead with purpose, not performance, we build trust and create spaces where students feel seen. Staying true to your โwhyโ isnโt easy but itโs powerful, and itโs necessary. #BlackEducatorsMatter
Shannon, Absolutely this is the shift.
Evolving Education really challenges us to rethink what โteachingโ actually means. Itโs not about the delivery, itโs about the design and impact.
As a school social worker, I see how powerful it is when students feel ownership not just of their work, but of their voice and identity in the learning space.
Thatโs when engagement becomes real.
Katie Martin's Evolving Education pushed me to think about what we sustain in schools and why.
Not everything weโve always done deserves to continue.
If itโs not serving students, building capacity, or creating meaningful learningโฆ we have to be willing to let it go.
Innovation isnโt adding on, itโs refining with purpose.

Congrats to Gregory Elementary student Rosa, whose dish Crazy Corn was selected as the district winner and will now advance to the national competition.
