Week 21
We finished our FIFTH class novel. As a culminating activity, the students folded an origami paper crane - just like the protagonist. Complicated folding; I was impressed!
Week 20
Starting the new year with drama & poetry unit. Students made 1 prop & did 1 body movement. The beauty of this: all students, & I mean all, participated in performing the plays. They also wrote their own poems & will present those, too. They had fun and so did I!
WEEK 19
Happy 2026! Students came back with new stuff - including hanging plushies on their backpacks and purses. Too cute. Students said "6-7" is so 2025.
I am excited for their last semester of 6th grade.
Week 18
Our school is 1 of 2 middle schools with the highest circulation check-outs of our district's 24 middle schools. Half of my students took the Winter Reading Challenge to read all the same book over the holidays.
WE READ IN ROOM A104!
Week 17
Dodecahedron Project was a fun way to do literary analysis. The students also had fun assembling them.
Pictured is a great morning before school with little groups doing their own thing - I love it.
WEEK 16
My brother passed away the day before Thanksgiving, & my team, caring colleagues, & supportive administrators allowed me this week bereavement. Room A104 continued on without a hitch. I will never forget the care & concern I received.
As for my brother, I'll miss him.
WEEK 14
I looove my mornings before class! EB student coming in just to practice writing skills, the awesome crochet club, others working on finishing informational essays, & some just want a place to hang out.
Classes reading & writing, of course!
11.11.25 🩷🩶🩵
Hobby Veterans Day Celebration was awesome! Flag-raising by vet-teacher & boy scouts, inspirational speeches and beautiful student music. I cannot forget my dearly departed dad. I am proud of Hobby Vets & Students.
WEEK 13
Peer tutor helping students.
We have SoaRR Bucks at Hobby for students who do wonderful things. This week was short, but still full. We wrapped up Informational Essay & Study... on to Literary Analysis with a class novel & essay.
WEEK 12🕸️🎃👻
Halloween Week: Spurs Coyote at our Red Ribbon Pep Rally, fun in the library, Informational Essay & reading, STAAR Interim, almost done with our 2nd class novel. Moving forward one step at a time. Great week!
I am so proud of my students.
STAAR Interim only 7 slipped but the other 33 grew together a total of 4,148 points. I do not teach advanced courses & other teachers may have bigger gains, but my students are moving up.
🌱Growth is what matters.🌳
WEEK 11 💜💛
I get to host Tuesdays of the student-run Crochet Club! They are so cute. They were crocheting bracelets. My colleague started the club, and the girls wanted a 2nd day..... enter, ME!
WEEK 10💜💛
I have a 6th grade Advisory class. It's nice to have conversations with them daily. I learn so much from them. "6 7" is their language these days. Here they are on Fun Friday dancing!
WEEK 8
Stations & Task Cards!
Organizational Patterns Task Card Activity is a good way to practice what is a challenging concept for students. The students did so well this week.
WEEK 7
Note says: "Dear Ms. Green, You are the teacher that makes my day every time I go to school. [You are] the reason I look forward to school. I will never forget you, even when I'm at Clark. You will always be with me in my heart." Your Student ---
Week 6 MAP results showcased 73% of students GREW yielding 272 points collectively! I know they'd been HAWKS only 3 1/2 weeks at the time, but they worked to reach their self-created goal for the screener. Hard-working, growth-minded HAWKS. Wooo!
Short Week 4, but lots happening. Stations are a favorite. This one is labeling a narrative mentor text. Students set a personal goal for the MAP Reading Screener, and detailed artwork from a student, and we laughed everyday! 6th grade rocks.
