What educators/parents are prioritizing to help kids right now:
-Instruction
-Technology
-Relationships
What nobody is talking about to help kids:
-State Tests
Let that sink in, & think hard about what might need to change when we return. #BoldSchool#edchat#QuarantineLife
Today is the first day of Ancient Greece! Students are working together in stations to make a flip book about the Politics, Geography, Society, Achievements, economy, and religion of the Greeks! @MonroeMS_NC #EmpowerEd#socialstudiesrocks@aponscheck
Some more of our “Deceased Empires.” Their causes of death have been determined! This was such a fun project! Keep an eye out on the 6th grade hall in the coming days to see the rest! @MonroeMS_NC #Empowered@ByrdSetrina@aponscheck#socialstudiesmatters
One of the secret ingredients to RRES success: intentionally planned professional learning that is regular, rigorous and relevant. We believe that “learners grow learners”. @AGHoulihan@Renee_McKinnon1
Kiddos are drawing the “bodies of their empires” and I LOVED watching them work together. PBL really does change the way students learn and I love seeing it in action! #EmpowerEd @MonroeMS_NC
Today in Social Studies Ss did an escape room about the Aztecs and Mayans! They were great little code crackers! @MonroeMS_NC @MsG_PagebyPage @aponscheck@Kapitalgains
A special thank you to some awesome people at @MonroeMS_NC and @potterliz44 for some early Christmas Presents from the book fair for our classroom library! Kids already are asking to check them out! 🥰📚 @Scholastic
“Ms. Miller, this is social studies? Why are we learning the scientific method?” Today we mummified apples for our unit on Egypt along with a webquest on the medical sci behind mummification. In two weeks we will see what preserves our mummies the best! @MonroeMS_NC @missyh57
Why only "half credit" back? What grading research says to do that?? We just make this stuff up. There is no average time to learn something so why do we punish kids who take longer to learn it?
Admin, If a formal observation is the first time you are in a teachers classroom, then put the evaluation form away. Sit, listen, and then leave a note of thanks, praise or encouragement. Relationships first!
Today we reviewed vocab words through a good old fashioned games of spoons. Instead of using playing cards, Ss had to find the word, definition, pic and examples of one of the 8 Features of a Civ and be the first ones to grab a spoon! @MonroeMS_NC @ByrdSetrina
