In FDK, we did an experiment today to find out how animals stay warm in the cold weather. We used a bag of fat (crisco shortening) to protect our hands from ice cold water and learned about how animals need βblubberβ to survive the winter.

Kinders explored their sense of smell and put their nose to the test to see if they could guess all the items inside the mystery jars. By their reactions, we learned that some friends like some scents that others do not! ππ½
This morning students built as many words as they could with the letters written on the board and attempted to unscramble the letters to find our mystery word. This activity fostered great conversations on segmenting, blending and morphology.
As a class, we combined our October prayers and created an empathy tree. We focused our prayers on giving thanks for what God has given us and asked him to guide us to show empathy in our community.
