@FixingEducation This isn’t true… within the first few months of first grade, kids have learned to read hiragana and katakana and are practicing addition and subtraction within 20. They start learning kanji later in the year. Knowledge is definitely a priority.

I found out recently that you have to be <40 join the national bone marrow registry. Only a few years left for me!

My dad’s cousin, age 61, died of leukemia earlier this year. He had a bone marrow transplant that gave him 5 more years, and he met his first grandson. #BeTheMatch

I had Japanese curry rice 🍛 for lunch for the past three days (first time this year I brought it) and each day, the same student has informed me that the classroom smells like hamsters 🐹 after lunch. What?!

Spot-on. At least I’m meeting with people I like, and hopefully we’ll have fun together. But it is very much like being in meetings all day.

For non-teaching friends who don't understand why teaching is so stressful, imagine this scenario. You have to run meetings all day long. You get virtually no time to prepare for the meetings. During the meetings, there are 30 people in the room who are forced to be there.
