There are going to be a lot of different narratives in the comings days, weeks, and years about this election, but what I know for sure is that things would look very different (much worse) if it wasn't for those who've committed their entire lives to organizing around justice.
If you catch yourself doomscrolling tonight, here are some ways to help yourself:
📱 set a timer
📱 get a snack
📱 text a friend
📱 drink some water
📱 do a stretch
📱 take five deep breaths
📱 relax your shoulders

I wrote about how, despite what the president wants you think, teaching students about the history of slavery is one of the most patriotic things you can do.

Shout out to the teachers who have their students read the declarations of Confederate secession, the narratives of enslaved ppl, & the letters written by our founding fathers. Teaching a history of slavery isn't indoctrination, the primary sources tell the story for themselves.
If you haven't yet listened to @chanajoffewalt's #NiceWhiteParents, please do. Anyone who has ever cared about our kids, our schools, and/or our future will get so much from this podcast.
I made breakout room choice doors where Ss will "go" to during their work time. We're using Google Meet & I plan to link different Meet links to each 🚪so Ss can collaborate, work alone, or get extra help. Honoring differences & personalizing instruction!

@ClintSmithIII Thank you for this post. I am listening to Flood Lines now. Have you written poetry about all of this? I was going to ask if you’d written about Katrina, but it’s more than a hurricane. That’s what Flood Lines is teaching me.
@HelenBranswell@statnews If you are in the same room with someone who has it and you are masked and they are masked and you are more than 6 feet apart, can you still get it? #CovidQsSTAT
@HelenBranswell@statnews If you test negative, does that mean you don’t have it? Or is there an incubation period where it is in your “system” but it not detectable by a test. #CovidQsSTAT
Dear parents and teachers,
It’s not coronavirus that’s keeping our kids from safely going to school next month.
It’s this administration’s repeated failures over the last six months that is.
Yours in continued frustration,
Dejected doctor and dad
The students who will lose out the most in online learning are those living in poverty, but teachers also shouldn't be forced to risk their lives going back into school buildings. What a terrible situation. It didn't have to be this way. Never forget it didn't have to be this way
