I was so happy to learn that one of my students in AP Biology is turning 18. I told him what a gift that his birthday is on Election Day, so he can go vote. 18-year olds at Churchill HS, we need young people to vote in every election!! Your voice matters!
Thanks @paulandersen for demoing the technique for the AP biology photosynthesis lab. Made a lot of cracks about leaf "chads", but all my lab groups got them to float!
Loved doing water testing with my 9th grade Biology class today and applying the science to real life issues like environmental racism. Great to do fieldwork in class. All different ways to be a scientist!
It's been a long school year, but I will miss my students. So many of them grew up a lot after coming back from virtual learning, coming out of their shells socially and improving academically. So proud of them. ๐ฅฒI have you all have a wonderful summer!
Students just did a photosynthesis lab in AP Biology. #keeponlearning Now whenever they hear the name "chad" my students will think of floating leaf disks...
Enough school shootings!! My heart goes out to the parents of the 14 children and teacher killed by a deranged mass shooter in southwest Texas. At least 17,074 people have died from gun violence this year. It doesn't have to be this way.
Shout out to all of the wonderful students who volunteered or offered to help with this week's intense biotechnology lab. Thank you for your kindness and willingness to help out. ๐
Transformation lab this week: If we feel competent in performing the lab procedures, we can transform competent bacteria! Glow babies glow!

@MBewernitz Thank you! They've definitely helped me grow as well with the labs. I see you also working hard and trying new activities as well. It's great to be able to grow in the profession! :)
The AP Biology team works hard to introduce more labs each year to give students hands on experience. We hope that students who enjoy lab-based investigations and want to grow their skills consider taking the course. Here's to building great memories & passion for science!
