Started our Local Community unit with a knowledge building circle and this book. Students talked about communities having fun places, shared places, places that keep us healthy, people helping each other, everyone belongs, different religions…
We explored area of a book today. First job…find the area of a book cover. Second job…find a book with an area that is a little smaller. Third job…find a book with an area in between your two findings.

After a few minutes the same student said they could both show half.

P said 16…when I count by threes I go 3, 6, 9…so I thought 9, 6, 3…19, 16.
