If funding does not increase, school districts across the state will face greater strain, leading to budget cuts that could include shutting down campuses, increasing class sizes, reducing or eliminating programs such as art and music, cutting transportation services, and other essential services, ultimately impacting students directly.

“As we shape our budget for the 2025-26 school year, we are being forced to consider cuts that will have a direct impact on student achievement,” Lynn Boswell, Austin ISD board of trustees president said, “That could include eliminating teacher planning periods, cutting instructional coaches or ending some of our academic programs. That's not good for our students, and it's not good for our state's future. All along the way, we are being thoughtful and deliberate about the process, recognizing that we are stewarding the community’s money, not ours, and we want to make these decisions together.”
