YCDSB hosted the Our Voice Leadership Conference to kickoff Black Heritage Month. The students and leadership teams were full of amazing energy. They were treated to lunch, live steel drums, making new friends and a wonderful T-shirt with an inspiring quote by Harriet Tubman.

On this National Day of Remembrance and Action On Violence Against Women, we honor the 14 engineering students that were killed at Polytechnique Montréal because they were women.
Everybody has a role to play to achieve a Canada that is free of gender-based violence.
If you think the cost of paying education workers a decent wage is too high, wait until you see the bill for allowing the quality of our education system to crumble. A nation's future is inextricably linked to the quality of the education system.
Effective teachers don't focus so much on rules, but more on relationships, routines, & expectations. If you focus mainly on rules, you will spend most of the year enforcing them. But if you focus on relationships, routines, & expectations, you rarely have to defer back to rules.
